FDK Multi 2700
A 10watt 2m multimode transceiver with OSCAR satellite reception, Big Heavy & built to last. Can be used in analog mode with the Fine & Coarse tuning knob or with the PLL synthesizer using the 3 knobs to set mHz, 100kHz & 10kHz.
Capable of working the old OSCAR satellites, crossbanding with 10m receive & transmitting on 2m.
The OSCAR 7 satellite was launched in the 70s & is still working today but on solar panels only so it pot luck whether you drop on the 2m & 10m mode or the 2m & 70cm mode & it’s still workable using this beast, though using SSB You have to use the VXO to allow for the doppler shift.

Work in progress, My White Whale, Everytime you do any work on this another part of it packs up but it’s the closest it’s ever been to full working order. Fingers crossed I’ll have it finished over the xmas holidays

A little 80 channel rig I picked up at a ham rally. Worked OK but I’m not a fan of the Up/Down Channel buttons, I’m more of an old school rotary channel selector guy :)

I think have a scrap Commtron up in the loft, If you can hang on till after xmas I’ll have a sort out & see if I can find it, otherwise it’s watching eBay for a spares or repair rig. You could always contact Knights over in Kirton Lindsey www.kcb.co.uk See if they have anything in their junk box
Audioline PT-341 40ch FM Transceiver, Uniden board thats getting on in age, suffers from the same dried out caps, dry joints on the front pcb where the controls are soldered.
Audioline PT-342 Remote handset mobile FM Tranceiver, Had a couple of these, uniden boards with LC7137 PLL & the LC7181/91 remote ICs, The boards are showing their age now & the capacitors are beginning to dry out causing shorts on the supplies to the PLL & Audio amp, etc.
Trio TR-9130 2m all mode, this one had the 12.5KHz steps to match the 2m frequencies, I have another for spares that steps in 5 & 25KHz but under the Kenwood brand.
Hygain VIII Base Station
So the crystal has turned up for the Hygain :)
The Hygain VIII has an IF of 11.2726MHz in AM mode but here in the UK am is about as useful as a fart in a spacesuit :) The crystal I managed to find on eBay is 11.725MHz so with a bit of mixing 11.725 - 11.2726 = 0.4524 or 452.4KHz not too far away from the standard 455KHz filters used in most FM CBs, if I can pull the new crystal up a bit with a capacitor to 11.7276MHz (2.6KHz higher) then the new IF will be 455KHz :) Even If I can’t get it that high it’ll still be within the filter’s bandwidth.
So thats the plan, build a new FM IF for the Hygain, dump the AM mode & make it FM, USB & LSB. Alter the PLL02a ic to work in 5KHz mode & add an eprom in between the channel changer output & the PLL to give me the original channels, UK band & if I free up a switch +10KHz to get the Alphas.
It’s a lot of work & I’ll never get the money back for the time put into it on eBay but it turns a big, old, rare CB Homebase into something more useful than just a digital clock.
This isn’t my rig (it’s midnight & cannot be arsed finding the camera & taking a pic) also if mine was in this condition I’d be a very happy bunny :)
